I loved the way Three Little Truths starts with a WhatsApp dialogue among the neighbours. The group was set up by the neighbourhood poker group to arrange their get-togethers but is mainly used to circulate gossip. The current topic of interest is the new neighbours, the Rigbys, a family of four who have recently moved into the street. All the family, apart from the mother, have been seen by the neighbours which makes the mother, Martha, all the more interesting to them. Martha is struggling to motivate herself to organise their new home due to some, as yet undisclosed, problem which necessitated the family's move. Eithne Shortall is one of a number of great Irish authors whose books never fail to delight their readers and Three Little Truths is no exception. I can't wait to discover what has happened to the Rigbys, if Martha recovers her form and how they all interact with their neighbours.
