Intriguing neighbourhood; I can’t wait to learn more!
From the outset I really want to know more about the residents of Pine Road. The use of a WhatsApp conversation to introduce some key characters was a clever touch and already I can sense that some are very quick to judge and share opinions.
In chapter 1 we meet Martha and learn that she has recently moved to a terrace house on Pine Road with her husband and two daughters. I am intrigued as to what ordeal she has gone through which made her move from the large house they had custom built and thought would be their forever home. Whilst her children seem to be adjusting well to their new surroundings Martha seems to be experiencing mini heart attacks each day. She is definitely an interesting character who I can’t wait to learn more about.
In Chapter 2 we meet Carmel and her daughter Robin, who has recently moved back home with her son Jack. The relationship between the two of them had me really laughing and Carmel especially likes to keep tabs on the movements of residents on Pine Road. She is particularly interested by Martha given that she has just moved in across the road.
I’m really looking forward to learning more about these residents and just what secrets they seem to be keeping hidden away behind their front doors.
