For a book full of dark undercurrents bubbling in the background, I found this immediately gripping but quite surprisingly humorous. I loved how vivid the different characters were and how effortlessly Shortall paints a picture of every day life in each very different house, while weaving in the first seeds of something sinister right from the off. The Irish cadence in the dialogue comes across perfectly and I really liked the insight into the Poker WhatsApp group at the start. I found myself glancing back at the character interactions (yes Fiona DOES call everyone "Hun"), sucked into the intrigue and gossip of the street. I also took an immediate dislike to the Carmody family (who wouldn't?), especially the older brother Peter and his nasty manipulations. I'm excited to read on, to discover the hidden secrets and backgrounds to each house and hopefully to see Pete Carmody "taken out and shot" in the eternal words of Ellen.

I thought the front cover was striking, simple bold colours, and the three birds emphasising the "Three Little Truths" of the title. I particularly liked the solitary figure hiding in one of the windows and thought of Robin "on window watch".
