This is a funny, entertaining and dramatic book. Set on Pine Road , a road filled with secrets and lies, the story centres around the residents. Although the story features all the residents it concentrates on three, Martha, Robin and Edie.
Martha and her family move to Pine Road after a traumatic experience, one that has repercussions for the whole family. She was confident and outgoing but now is withdrawn and full of hatred towards her husband.
Robin was a popular girl at school but is now moving back in with her parents and her four year old after leaving her troublesome ex.
Edie strives for the acceptance of her neighbours. She has the perfect life and husband but wants a family.
I loved all the neighbours, each with their own personality, even the annoying ones.
Between the chapters is the Pine Road Poker which I found hilarious at times, especially Ruby's comments.
This is the first book I've read by this author but I will definitely be looking out for more. The story was entertaining and at times had me shocked. Definitely five stars!
