This book tells the story of three women, Martha, Robin and Edie, all living as neighbours on the same road, Pine Road. ‘I love the quote in this- Blood is thicker than water, but not as thick as Mortar’. At first there doesn’t seem to be much of a plot but as the story progressed these neighbours lives gradually become entwined throughout the story. It’s a great read with the great storytelling style of Maeve Binchy, mixed with the humour and character style of Marian Keyes. There are a lot of strong female characters in this book, all who have their strength tested and have their own battles to fight.
I thought this was a nice easy read, perfect for a beach read or just at home in lockdown! I had never read any of Eithne Shortall’s books before but after reading this one, I look forward to reading more from her. I would highly recommend this book.
