As a teacher of Maths Jenni is technically proficient but she cannot read or understand the emotions of others and in a classroom environment this can be a problem. So when she sees one of her form class with a bruised eye she fears the worst especially as the girl in question is looked after by social services and vulnerable. But are her suspicions accurate and can she count on her evaluation of the situation - a lack of emotion was an asset while she was a soldier but in civilian life it could be her undoing.
