The cover didn't really grab my attention, and if I saw it in a book shop, I probably wouldn't pick it up.
I am very intrigued by the contents, though; a strong female protagonist (thank you!!!) facing struggles that, while strange, are in some ways relatable. It isn't a secret that soldiers struggle to adjust to civilian life, so to read a book from the perspective of a former soldier is interesting. I have some experience of the hoops education centres need to jump through regarding safeguarding children, so I was also amused by the accuracy there.
I can only assume, given that every chapter started with 'Jenni', that there might also be chapters from at least one other character's point of view, which leads to the question: whose voice did we hear at the very beginning?
