This was definitely a book of two halves.
I really enjoyed the first half which was about how Jenni Wales helped her 15 year old pupil, Destiny, to escape the clutches of an abusive, child trafficking gang. The narrative was great and I was already thinking that I would award it 5 stars and say this book was suitable for Young Adult readers. Then there was a huge twist (for the worst in my opinion) and the language, storyline and characters became nasty, coarse and vulgar. On reflection, I should have given up at this point as I didn’t find any redeeming qualities in the second half of the book and the ending was weak.
There were the usual typos and grammatical errors I have now come to expect in books from this publisher (past instead of passed etc) but also continuity errors - how did George happen to be at a motorway service station an hour away from Hull when he was previously in the Hastings/ Tonbridge Wells area?
This was a disappointing read after a promising start.
