This is the story of Jenni Wales, maths teacher, ex soldier medic who takes action to protect one of her pupils, Destiny. There is a gang of Eastern Europeans in a van waiting to take her away from school. Destiny, who is in care seems friendless, vulnerable and scared. Jenni stops Destiny leaving only to be threatened by one of the men with a gun.
Following inadequate safeguarding from the appropriate authorities Jenni has no option but to step in herself.
The story is told in the first person by each of the main characters in turn and the plot keeps you guessing right to the end.
The characters are quite well crafted but not very likeable however it keeps you reading to find out just what’s going on.
