Often how quickly I read a book is a judgement of how much I loved it, this one I was through in less than 48 hours so that just shows how good it is!
Jenni, is ex army, living with her own demons, and working as a teacher in a secondary school. Destiny, is bright, clever, living in care and one of Jenni's students. One day Jenni realises that Destiny is in trouble and after she is almost abducted from school and it appears that the authorities are not doing much to help her, Jenni takes things into her own hands and becomes intent on protecting her come what may. This sets the two of them off on a road trip, a journey not only of miles, but one where dark memories from the past resurface and impact on the present.
This is a great psychological thriller, full of twists and turns, mystery and suspense it does cover some aspects of PTSD, emotional damage and living in care. I thought it was a really good novel and enjoyed reading it immensely.
