Jenni Wales is an ex-soldier and now works as a teacher. At the beginning of the book Jenni is witness to an attempted abduction of one of her students, Destiny. Jenni feels that the situation is not taken seriously enough and has to take matters into her own hands. As an ex-soldier she takes this upon herself with no fear, knowing that she is more than capable of looking after herself and Destiny.
I thought this debut novel was well written and quite different from other thrillers. The action doesn’t take long to start, hooking you into the story from the first few chapters. I really enjoyed the use of flashbacks to give more detail about the two main characters and their history, which goes some way in explaining their behaviour. It is a very fast-paced plot, with lots of twists and turns to keep you guessing and there are some dark and violent scenes. Something different if you enjoy crime fiction, I would definitely recommend.
