I really enjoyed this book, thanks to Readers First for an advanced copy.
Jenni is an ex-army school teacher, on the autistic spectrum, and I suspect suffering from PTSD. When a girl in her class Destiny appears to be in trouble with a gang of men trying to take her against her will, Jenni decides she has no option but to take Destiny away to safety. A decision which has devastating consequences for several people.
I can't say much more without plot spoiling but there are many twists and turns, and many places where I felt I needed to go back to check if I'd missed something, but no it was just told from the perspective of both characters who clearly saw the same situation very differently. In places I found this a very uncomfortable read, but it was brilliant. I shall look out for more work by this author, great job.
