This book opens with a bang of intriguing retakes on mermaid folklore. Lira is a feisty and fierce siren with little to recommend her at first glance but I can see she's a product of her evil mother. I want to know more. Elian is after the Princes Bane, an unusual prince/pirate and I can't wait to see these two interact.
