I am stunned by this book. After reading the summary and learning it was about sirens I was already excited but after the first look, I am in awe of this book.

Lira is a siren princess who steals a heart for every year of her birth, as is the siren tradition, a tradition she takes a step further by always taking the heart of a prince. The taking of a heart is brutal. Enticing men to their deaths by drowning before ripping their heart's from their chest. It's brutal and should make Lira such an unsympathetic character but even the small glimpse here made me intrigued by her. She has many layers and I want to learn more of the sirens and their ways.

And then there is Elian, a human prince who hunts sirens. It may seem like a noble pursuit, on the seas killing those who prey on people, but he views himself as a murderer. He is both the same as Lira yet her opposite and I just know the interaction between the two will be fantastic seeing these two and their differences.

I can't wait to read more of this book. It is in a world of it's own dispelling the illusions Disney's The Little Mermaid made and making sirens and mermaids into the terrifying sea creatures they are.
