To Kill a Kingdom was such an easy read for me. It took me no time to read it and it was the standalone I needed in order to help me detach from a series I had read beforehand. It’s short with an easy writing style.
I did really enjoy it throughout but I think I would’ve enjoyed it more if I had read it a few years ago. I am eighteen but would have preferred the book if I was more in the 13-16 age bracket.
In this book, you see the world of sirens and pirates and royalty with a subtle enemies to lovers romance. I enjoyed the alternating chapter perspectives for the two main characters Lira and Elian. I feel with this writing style you’re more susceptible to connect with the characters.
You see big character development for both of the characters which isn’t usually too common.
I would definitely recommend if you are a fan of Disney’s The Little Mermaid because it includes the collision of the land and sea worlds.
