I really enjoyed this book. It was a fun, darker twist on The Little Mermaid with the mermaid being a murderous siren instead. The writing was great and captured my interest straight away. I loved the world and the characters of both Lira and Elian as well as everyone on board the Saad. There was plenty to keep you entertained, with action and adventure, romance, family and an interesting take on the roles that can be forced upon you and forging your own path. My only issue would be that the pacing in the first third of the book felt a little slow but this picked up later on. It took a while but once I got into this book I couldn’t put it down.
