I have read a lot of books, and I mean A LOT of books, but this one is now up there with my favourites. It's definitely my favourite read of 2018 so far. I just loved everything about it and I was hooked from the very beginning. The plot was amazing. It's a new, darker take on the tale of The Little Mermaid, yet it still left you wondering what was going to happen. Knowing the story of The Little Mermaid did not make it predictable in the slightest. I loved the characters, especially the strong, female lead we had in the form of Lira. I adored Prince Elian too, I think he was probably my favourite character. It was full of action and anticipation, as well as some very well-done and well-timed humour. This book is pretty close to perfection. I will be telling everyone I know to read this and I have a feeling I'm going to be thinking about it and talking about it for some time.
