To Kill a Kingdom is like nothing I've ever read before - the twists and turns this story took left me constantly on the edge of my seat; no part of this book is predictable.

Additionally, the characters are dynamic and, though not traditionally "loveable," easy to root for.

The one thing that stops this review from being a five-star rating is the ending. Not to spoil anything about the plot, but the epilogue did leave me slightly disappointed, especially considering the absolute finality of it despite many aspects of the book being very open (like concepts of good and bad), and the ending just didn't mesh well with that and the characters' motivations (in my opinion). However, it was still a compelling read that I would happily revisit.
