I flew through this novel, and it's the first time I've enjoyed reading the enemies-to-lovers cliché since the main characters, their growth, their underlying concerns, and their banter with one another were all done so naturally. I wanted to speed through the novel just to see how they could possibly enjoy each other, because both protagonists were extremely lethal. It's also interesting to see all the many sites they visited and how the kingdoms differ from one another; the world building is simple to follow and doesn't bog you down with unnecessary details. I'm torn between rating this 4 or 5 stars because I loved reading about the characters and their witty banter, and I wouldn't alter anything.

The only criticism I have is that, while the beginning and end thirds of the book are exciting and engaging, I found the middle section to be a little meandering, and it was almost too easy to observe the protagonists move from point A to point B in their journey. If we're going to spend this much time following the characters in such a linear fashion, I'd prefer to see more of the love growth so that the anxiety and tension may be built up afterwards.
