This is a beautiful retelling of the little mermaid fairy tale and I fell in love with pirate Prince Elian and siren princess Lira. The book was amazing from start to finish and I was never bored while reading. The world building is excellent and I thought that the characters were very interesting even the unlikable ones - and the story moves along at a decent pace. The author has a very enjoyable writing style and I found the book easy and enjoyable to read.
In this version of the fairy tale the sirens take the place of mermaids and actual mermaids are more like fish than human so I enjoyed how the author interpreted the mythology and put her own spin on things. My only criticism would be that the ending felt a little rushed but apart from that this is a five star read.
