The way the evil queen treats her daughter is heartbreaking.
From forcing her to kill her aunt to banishing her because she is unworthy the queen is evil through and through.
She had turned her into a monster but she still has a heart and knows how wrong her mother is and that things have to change. Watching her grow into the hero the sea needs throughout the book is awe inspiring.
