This was such an interesting story! A unique take on the Little Mermaid fairytale with a morally questionable protagonist? Incredible. And, very well executed.
The relationships between characters - particularly as Lira and Elian get closer - are beautifully well written. Lira's relationship with her mother is a study in disfunction, but it works with the story brilliantly.
Also, can I say how much I adore this cover? It's one of my all time favourites, and anybody who doesn't see it and instantly want to read the book is insane!
I really enjoyed the book, although it was a little slow in places and there was a great deal of information to absorb at the beginning. The end was satisfying though!
