A dark retelling of the Little Mermaid we follow Lyra, siren princess who steals a heart each year for her birthday, breaking the rules and as punishment, the Sea Queen, her mother, turns her human, demanding her to steal Prince Elian’s, the siren hunter, heart in order to return home. Braving the seas and lands she has never once set foot on, Lyra comes to terms with her humanity while she lies her way into Prince Elian’s crew. The first line of the book gets you hooked to the story immediately and engages into this compelling enemies to lovers fantasy. The characters are all very compelling and interesting to read about, even the background characters. The beginning also felt a little fast paced but the action scenes and the way the story progresses within each chapter is amazing and the final chapters wrapped the book up nicely with an epic battle. Read in a day couldn’t put it down totally reccomend!
