This is the perfect book to read after finishing a heavy series; the plot is light and easy to follow, but still gripping.

I love a story about sirens and find that often there aren't many of them around, so I was thrilled when picking this one up! I enjoyed the writing style, the perfect balance between being too simple that is dull and too in depth that it is difficult to grasp what the author is attempting- I flew through this book!

The plot was thoroughly enjoyable. Very well paced, giving time to introduce the reader to each character and give time to get to know about them, their past, present and expected future. The traditions that Lira upheld as part of being siren royalty were explained really well, leaving no lingering questions of uncertainty and felt genuine. I refer to the plot of the book as an almost twisted tale of the Little Mermaid, something which I loved as reimagined fairytales are one of my favourite things to read!

I would have liked the quest part of the story to have been a bit more developed and less rushed, but apart from that the story was very good!
