The idea of Sirens ruling the Sea and men of numerous forms ruling the lands is interesting. In this the story starts with Lira collecting the hearts of princes as trophies, her being a Siren has awarded her the title of ‘The princes Bane’. Elian hunts sirens and mermaids and other sea monsters of the like. Both are gunning for the other with this story. With a twist thanks to Liras mother the Sea Queen changing Liras fate and bribing her in contact with Elian.
I won’t share more story because I don’t want to give any spoilers. What I will say is it’s a great story idea but I feel like the book is very slow to get into. The characters are likeable, but dare I say slightly forgettable. This doesn’t mean to say you shouldn’t read this book it is good, but considering one of the selling points is for fans of Leigh Bardugo and wouldn’t say it’s a good as her Smoke and Bone Series. Still I’d like to read other works by this author
