This is one of my absolute favourite retellings I've ever read. It is a retelling of the little mermaid except it's a tale about a siren rather than a mermaid and is in general, a lot darker. I think the most noticeable thing about this book was just the fact I was never bored. The characters were by far my favourite part though. There are two povs in this book: Elian-the pirate prince-and Lira-the siren princess. I loved both povs equally and was never tired with one as I loved both characters equally. Elian is pretty complex and likeable and his own motivations were strong. And Lira I absolutley adored and I say we need more bloodthirsty female protaganists thanks very much.
The enemies-to-lovers trope was done SO well and gradually, it just felt super natural and omg I loved it sm. The side characters were also great editions too.
The plot was well paced and highly addicting. I would definitley recommend if u like dark fantasy ya books!
