This gripping fantasy captured my attention from the very beginning. From the incredibly powerful and immersive writing style that pulled me into a mystical world filled with sirens and kingdoms with hidden Legends and fairy tales, to the plot that constantly had me wanting and needing to know what happened next.
Lira, a siren and the daughter of the sea queen, and prince Elian from Midas are both on a mission to find and kill the other. But after Lira is transformed into a human and robbed of here deathly song as a punishment, her task of stealing Elian’s heart becomes more difficult. Whilst Elian travels from kingdom to kingdom, putting pieces together in order to end the siren race. You find yourself itching to know who will succeed.
Despite the books seemingly serious plot this book is also entertaining in a light and humorous way as you get to know each character, particularly the way Lira and Elian interact with each other and the banter they throw back and forth. I greatly enjoyed how the relationships between the characters developed along with the plot.
