When I first started the book I LOVED the first like I thought it was so interesting and unusual to open the book.
As I got a few chapters in, I can’t lie but I did think about giving up. My mind wasn’t with the book 100% whether this was due to me being in a MAJOR book slump or whether I just couldn’t connect very well.
Either way, I ventured on and continued reading and I tell you what; I’m so glad I did!
After a few unexpected (and expected) twists and turns i felt this book had a great sense of originality even if it was along the lines of ‘A Little Mermaid’ retelling.
I loved all the characters and thought they were wrote perfectly and everything fitted together really nicely.
Sometimes I think it’s hard to fit a full, action-packed story into 300ish pages but Alexandra Christo manages this amazingly. Her writing is secretive but not overly complicated which makes for a great read!!
