Lira needs to please her mother. Elian is trying desperately to avoid the throne. Both want to kill each other, but who will succeed?

Oh, we do love a 'I have to kill you' to lovers plot line.

I really enjoyed the writing style - all the descriptions were absolutely gorgeous. The dual perspective was fantastic from a reader's point of view: we could see the entire story unfold whilst the characters were non-the wiser.

The concept was great. It really fit in with other mythology books I've read before. And the whole idea of sirens is just SO COOL.

There was a slight Six Of Crows vibe in terms of a ragtag group of pirates on a mission, which I really enjoyed.

Even more enjoyable was the fact the story was resolved in one book. I love series, and buying them, but sometimes it seems to drag on a bit. This didn't drag at all as I knew we would be completing the entire arch in one novel (that's less that 400 pages).

The build up and the mini battles in between added to the suspense of the final battle.

Also, who doesn't love a happy ending?!
