Enemies to lovers at its finest! I’m such a fan of this trope and I can confirm that the romance was written really well and it isn’t too rushed. This beautifully written novel is a dark young adult fantasy with full of pirates, sirens and adventure. I really enjoyed reading this as the narrative was delivered so well but also because the story was gripping and will leaving you wanting more. Plot wise, it is quite similar to the little mermaid but with a dark twist. Lira is a brutal siren know as the Prince’s bane and she is infamous for killing princes, ripping out their hearts and all that fun stuff. She’s such a powerful and independent character. Not to mention she is the daughter of the mighty sea queen who is pretty much terrible all around and is the reason for why Lira is the way she is. Elian is a pirate prince who is hilarious, sassy and all around amazing and he hunts sirens. And so we have a prince killer and a siren killer - what’s not to love!!
