The world of sirens and pirates i have no shame to admit is definitely a guilty pleasure of mine and so picking up To Kill a Kingdom was no chore. It is a very solid standalone book.
This book is described as a little mermaid retelling and I loved every bit of it. The world building of this book was fantastic I was submerged into this land of pirates and princesses galore immediately.

My absolute favorite thing any book has is how characters interact with eachother. Specially how they banter and bounce off one another. This tells the reader a lot about the characters when they do interact. And I love Lira’s and Elian’s banter. The two are witty and sarcastic and I gobbled up every bit of it. Did I mention tis enemies to lovers? What more could you want!

My only downfall for this book is that the ending was a bit rushed. I felt as if the author was on a time crunch bearing the end of the book everything just iunfolded so fast.
But besides that I highly recommend to kill a kingdom as I have read it thrice now since my initial first read.
