Meet the two main characters: Lira, a siren princess and known amounts humans as the Princes’ Bane because of all the princes she has murdered for their hearts. Elian is also of royal blood, to be more precise, he is the crown prince of a wealthy and thriving kingdom, but a siren killer and adventurer at heart.

These two become acquainted in the strangest of circumstances, although it is only Lira that is aware of both identities. It is quite easy to see how this book represents the enemies-to-lovers trope and is only made intenser by Alexandra’s amazing character and storytelling. This book has everything you need in a good fantasy romance novel: pirates, action, drama, adventure, strong characters, kingdoms and much more.

Although there are many parallels to be seen between this book and a Little Mermaid (the book is meant to be a retelling), I wouldn’t recommend reading it solely for the retelling, as the characters in itself are completely different.
