As a pirate/siren/mermaid fan I was overly excited to read this book. However as I said in the title, the book is wrongly categorized by age. I think a 7-10 year old would enjoy this story because it's a little twist on the famous disney movie. the little mermaid
Lets look at the bright side. Did I enjoyed this book? yes. But was it boring a times and childish also really hard to get through as a teenager? yes, very much so. What I found the the most childish was the final battle scene. I just sat there and laughed how ridiculously it was written.
It was also catagorised as enemies to lover which is a ya trope. As a person who is the biggest fan of enemies to lovers, the book did not give me the enough "You are the person I hate the most and I really want to kill you but at the same time I don't hate you , not even a little bit, not even at all." type of tension that a normal enemies to lovers book has.
So over all if your a teen between the ages of 14-17 you would probably not enjoy this book.
