This was a really good YA fantasy novel. i love the whole idea of pirates and kingdoms, so this book gripped me in that sense. I'm not the biggest fan of sirens though and also when its the main character's family who are the enemy. However this book was well written and it didn't feel draining to read.

I love Lira. I love how she stands up for herself. I love that she stands up for her friends, and i love that she isn't afraid to do what's right. I love her character development. she went from being her mother's little girl to being her own person.

I love Elian. I love a pirate who is also a king ( cough, cough, Nikolai), but I also love that he is willing to do what's right. Like Lira, he would stand up for his friends and would die for them. I love found family, and I am happy that he has found his.

I feel that Lira and Elian went from being enemies to friends in like a slow burn, BUT i felt as if they went from friends to lovers so suddenly. There wasn't much build up as i hoped there would be.
