I first heard of To Kill A Kingdom from TikTok and from other book websites, and was hesitant to buy it as I've never really read books about mermaids, princes and mythology, but WOW. The cover itself is just stunning, with the beautiful tentacle art and gold lettering, and the story and plot is extremely well-written. To begin with, it is quite overwhelming with the foreign, made up names and languages, but once you get over the pronunciation, you just cant put it down! The characters are so detailed and have so much personality, you forget they're just words on a page, and feel as if you're there with them. Lyra is you're average stubborn, determined girl, but with the slight twist of being a siren. Prince Elian is, plainly, the dashing prince who is seeking adventure and excitement, which is easy when you're also a part time pirate. One of my favourite books so far, this book has convinced me to delve into the worlds of royalty, fantasy and mystery; can't wait to read more by Alexandra!
