Sadly, this was quite mediocre. Despite being thrown into action straight away and the romance between the main characters being a predictable enemies to lovers situation, it was a very unremarkable and forgetful story. I enjoyed learning about Lira's people and the whole conflict but not enough to care about any of the characters. The two main character's were highly unlikable and often feeling self righteous and so it was hard to root for them. It wasn't an awful book by any means but with all the hype and attention it was getting when it was published, it simply fell flat for me. As was the case with any other mermaid/siren novel that was popping up like mushrooms after the rain. 3 meh stars.
