After reading and loving a few pirate books, I decided to pick To Kill A Kingdom up, especially after all of the good things I've heard about it. It was a let down. It wasn't bad, but nothing really stood out to me. The romance was okay and I wasn't a big fan on the pacing. I'm already not a big fan of stand alone fantasy books to begin with and this one wasn't much of a difference. I feel like I could have enjoyed this more if there were multiple books and I was given more time to fall in love with the world, but I feel like I wasn't given a chance. The premise was interesting and it was a quick read, but it is not a favorite.

My favorite fantasy trope is enemies-to-lovers, but only one of the characters knew that they were enemies, so would it really be an enemies-to-lovers? Anyways, I feel like this is the type of book that I will remember the overall premise, but I am going to forget the character's names in like 10 minutes. To Kill a Kingdom had so much potential, and I am disappointed to say that I didn't really enjoy it.
