This book was highly recommended and it is a retelling so I thought I would try it. I was disappointed. It starts of as dark which I liked but it doesn’t seem to keep it up. I’m not sure the romance really needed to be there. I however did like the banter between the prince and his crew! I kind of liked the prince. The world building was limited and there were a few cliches that did annoy me. The action scenes were quite short and I thought they needed more work. The ending was happier than I expected as it was meant to be a dark retelling and I guess I was expecting more Hans Christian Anderson type ending. I won’t lie this book was entertaining and it had sirens in it but it just wasn’t what I expected.
