I had very high expetations for this book and it simply did not do it for me! It was boring and so long for no reason. I’m disenchanted with how mediocre this was. It’s described as a darkish and romantic story.
It used to be dark at the beginning, then turned into mush. By the way our fundamental characters had been introduced, I was anticipating some straight-up nastiness and bravado. False commercial that used to be because that’s no longer the tone the story carried on with (but I didn’t thinking this too much due to the fact that there was some introspection our characters have been going through)
I think the only issue that I liked used to be the Prince and his crew, the bond and witty banter they shared. Plus the similarities Elian and Lira had in terms of them each wanting to desperately break out the shackles that had been pressured on them.

I wanted that perspective of their persona to be explored (it was once too flimsy!) and wanted extra brutality. The ending used to be annoyingly happy. It likely would’ve felt greater fulfilling had the initial plot point been carried out. I’m slightly getting over glad endings, specifically in fantasy. Or maybe this wasn’t just properly done as it was too dramatic for my taste.
