Already at the first chapter, "I have a heart for every year I’ve been alive." had me hooked. The POV often switched from Lira and Elian. Although I was always eager to read more from Lira than Elian just because Lira had a more complicated background instead of Elian where we see how much he longed for the sea and not the crown. However, with Lira we get to see a whole new world and her vicious acts of seducing princes and collecting their hearts. Not gonna lie, I never truly grew to like Elian just because he sometimes seemed too arrogant. Although, I absolutely adored Lira and they were multiple quotes in the story that just made my heartache and long. I wished we got to see more woman power, especially since Lira grew up with sirens. I liked that Elian and Lira met at the beginning of the story and not in the middle where their romance would be rushed.
