Let’s start with the cover: very intriguing. It took me a mine to realise that was a squid/octopus on the cover and then for the realisation that the green of the cover is the sea to hit. That it’s perfect for fans of Mass and Bardugo wouldn’t have pulled me in if the cover hadn’t done so already.

On to the blurb: I’m pretty sure that I squealed when I realised that this was basically a retelling of The Little Mermaid with a darker twist. I’ve come across a few of this but none that have had me wanting to buy the book. This book changed that for me.

A first look: It took me all of a chapter to realise that this book was going to be very well written. That the plot was well thought out and that the characters are well developed. I read through the first look dreading the end of the extract and this is in my opinion how every good book should make you feel!
