This book has an extremely vibrant and evocative way of descibing the setting and characters. In only 30 pages,the author has managed to create such deep and real characters.Lira and Elian contrast and complement each other so beautifully- even though they have not yet met.
Where Elian wants nothing to do with the kingdom that he is going to inherit and does everything he can to spite his royal blood, Lira is the opposite. She follows everything her mother says and wants nothing more than to be respected by her people and worthy of her crown.
Their only parallel is their live of the ocean and their royal blood.In only 30 pages,the author has managed to show us the facade of the main characters and then drag us deeper (like her sirens do) into their true selves.
I love that both Lira and Elian are not just what their parents want them to be but so much more. With these two strong personalities, the rest of the book is bound to be a thrilling escapade.
