For starters, the premise of this book is really great. Lira, our main character, is a siren who has been killing and collecting the hearts of princes her whole life - needless to say, she doesn’t care for them very much. But of course our other main character, Elian, is about to change all of that.
The enemies to lovers plotline was done really well; I loved every scene between the two characters. They clashed against eachother well and the romance progression was believeable. Furthermore, the characters themselves were really enjoyable - they had strong personalities and a sharper edge than most ya protagonists. The character progression was something I appreciated too, both characters had predjudices they needed to challenge and overcome.
I wasn’t as engaged in the main plotline itself, but it all made sense and progressed well. I was certainly curious about how it would all end, and I did find the ending to be a satisfying conclusion. Ultimately, a very enjoyable and quick read with lots of angst and pirate/fantasy vibes. I fully recommend!
