The pace was extremely good in this book and I loved the character so much! I really loved the conflict the main character has to face on if she should follow her mother's demands. I loved the enemies to lovers trope in this book. The shifty was gradual and not a complete shift all of a sudden. However, I felt that the ending did not really fit the rest of the books tone. The ending was extremely predictable, and I really wish the author added a twist to avoid this. But, the ending was action packed finale definitely made the predictability worth it. I adored the pirate theme and I might need to read more pirate themed books due to this book. I missed the lack of diversity present in this book but in her more recent book she does resolve this. I appreciated that all the side characters has individual personalities and goals. I fall in love with the family dynamic and found family trope way to easily.
