I couldn't wait to finish this book. I found the plot unbelievable and the characters superficial - I could not relate to or empathise with any of them.
Perhaps I would have enjoyed it more if I were a homicidal, incestuous twin!
The beginning was quite promising. Twins, Cecelia and Sebastian, live in a remote farmhouse in the fens with their cruel, abusive father and their meek, submissive mother. When they are fifteen, their father tells them that their mother has left home - this time for good. The twins believe that their father has murdered their mother and disposed of her body. The storyline just gets more and more incredible from there.
The only good thing about having read this book is that I now have a new word in my vocabulary - purlin. The author uses it at least 20 times so hopefully I won't forget it!
