This was a first with this author for me and I did struggle with the amount of different characters and their roles so although this book is enjoyable as a stand alone it would be best read in sequence . There was a variety of main characters ranging from lawyers to newly released prisoners . Many of the dealings were unlawful but a blind eye was turned and It wasn't until half way through the novel that I could say was a turning point when I began to understand how all the different side stories and characters were linked together and the nitty gritty started and from there on the plot unfolded into a really enjoyable read . On the whole the plot and storyline was different and well worth a peruse.
