As a lover of thrillers I was looking forward to reading Top Dog, my first Scandi-noir read. The story follows Teddy and lawyer Emelie as they investigate an organisation which has for years been forcing young girls into the sex trade. Interwoven in the story is Roksana and her boyfriend Z who find a stash of Ketamine in their flat and after using and selling it are uncovered by the gang who hidden it there.

The book has so many characters and so much happening I unfortunately lost interest in the whole thing. I thought the females characters Emelie, Roksana and Nina Ley were very strong and well written. The male characters were with the exception of Teddy very weak and had no depth. The hospital shooting scene has been done better both in books and film. The chapter when Z tries to find out how to make ketamine was straight out of Breaking Bad. I wanted to enjoy this book but stopped reading before the end.
