Toxic, is a fun and hilarious account of a group of friends on holiday abroad. Behind this humourous light hearted front though is and honest and extremely relateable story of a girl who is struggling through the trial and tribulations of having to stay friends with an ex due to a considerable number of mutual friends. The writer goes into details which make it easy to tell how Hope is feeling and how conflicted she truly is, between wanting everything with her and her friendship group to go back to normal since her breakup with a fellow member, but also the torture of seeing an ex everyday and havening to come face to face with the hope for a future everytime they speak. A situation most girls can relate to.
Despite having a multitude of characters to keep track of the author does this incredibly well and in a way which really allows the reader to get a feel for each character in turn. A feat not easy in books such as this
