----- I was so excited to read this because I love historical fiction and the gun powder plot has been so interesting to me since I was little. unfortunately, I was let down with this book.
----- The writing was very good, and the plot sounded interesting but after a while, the story just became very boring and dull. the characters I also did not love, I thought they weren't very developed and there were too many that I just did not care about
----- However, I think James Jackson is a talented writer so I would read his other books because I think he has potential. furthermore, I think this book would be enjoyed by other people it just was not for me surprisingly. i think the cover is fitting to the story as well.
------- overall this book is a 2 to 3 star read - it was not terrible but i did not really like it either .
