In my opinion, this book was as original as they come. Set after the Second World War, the story follows a woman that kills her abusive husband in a fight at home then assumes his identity. Posing as her husband, she moves away, finds a new job, and begins dating a woman called Inez.
Although the concept and story itself was an interesting idea, I did not enjoy this book very much. I found that the characters were not very like-able and the story was hard to get into.
Despite liking the first half of the book, I almost gave up on reading it in the second half. I love reading historical fiction and anything about the Second World War, but this book just wasn't for me.
It was a quick read, but not a book I would ever read again.
